| 1960 | Becel® is launched in the Netherlands after the medical community asks Unilever to develop a heart healthy spread. |
| 1978 | Becel® was launched in Canada and was the first and only non-hydrogenated margarine. |
| 1990's | New varieties of Becel® are introduced. |
| 1991 | Becel® Heart Health Information Bureau was formally established. |
| 2000's | Becel® continues to expand its heart healthy product line up with innovations like Becel® Buttery Taste. |
| 2007 | Canada’s Food Guide is updated and recommends choosing soft margarines that are low in saturated and trans fats and limiting butter, hard margarine, lard and shortening |
