Do you have any children?
I have two daughters and a son. Julia, 13, Sarah, 18, and Michael, 16.
What are your hobbies?
I live a very active life. I sail, skate, golf, mountain bike, fish, work out and play hockey and volleyball. I also challenge myself by taking improv classes!
Why did you want to lower your cholesterol?
I understood that having high cholesterol could have serious health effects and increase the risk of heart disease. As a person who works extremely hard, and has various hobbies, I wanted to continue to lead a very active life. So I realized I needed lower my cholesterol right away.
What life style changes have you made since learning you had high cholesterol?
I've become much more aware of what I eat, and have completely changed my eating habits. Before I would eat bacon and eggs every morning, but I finally realized I am not 21 anymore. I now eat much healthier, and use Becel® pro.activ® calorie-reduced margarine with plant sterols, whenever I can. I also now exercise much more frequently.
How do you include Becel® pro.activ® in your diet?
I put Becel® pro.activ® on my toast every morning and on my sandwich at lunch. I will also often put it on my veggies, especially when I am having either corn or potatoes.
What advice would you give a friend looking to reduce their cholesterol?
Look at your diet, and try to incorporate products, like Becel® pro.activ®, that have plant sterols. Regular exercise is also important.
What has been the single best thing you've experienced since you started the program?
I am now much more at ease. It's as if a monkey has been lifted off of my back, and I am no longer constantly worried about my health.
