Men's and women's hearts

When it comes to matters of the heart, men and women are more similar than we might think, so it’s equally important for both men and women to look after their hearts.

Heart disease can have a major impact on an individual's quality of life. According to Health Canada, cardiovascular disease or heart disease is the number one killer in Canada. It is also the most costly disease in Canada, putting the greatest burden on our national health care system.

Heart disease has a major impact on an individual's quality of life, including chronic pain or discomfort, activity restriction, disability, and unemployment.

Although there is some protection against heart disease in younger women, if you’re post-menopausal, you may find that your cholesterol levels are slightly higher than they used to be and this could have an impact on the health of your heart.

The good news is that for both men and women, the risk of coronary heart disease, or “CHD”, unlike many other serious conditions, can be significantly reduced by proper lifestyle management. Making changes to your diet and lifestyle may help to improve the health of your heart and the quality of your life.

At Becel, we’re committed to raising awareness of what it takes to make the hearts of people around the world healthier and what better place to start the learning process than here!

It’s never too late to learn to Love Your Heart.
